This guava margarita is sweet, tangy, and totally tropical—aka the ultimate way to escape without leaving your backyard.

With guava nectar, tequila, and fresh lime juice, this margarita is fruity, smooth, and tastes like you're on an island somewhere fabulous.

Margarita with Guava Juice

I'm all about cocktails that transport me out of New Orleans' hot, humid weather-and this guava margarita does exactly that. I grabbed guava nectar on a whim, and one sip in, I was on a beach in my mind.

Guava adds a sweet, lightly floral twist that makes this marg feel fancy with zero effort. Other low-effort vacation vibe cocktails include my frozen watermelon margarita and this passion fruit margarita.

What You Need

Exact amounts are in the recipe card below, but all you need is blanco or silver tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice, and guava nectar. A splash of simple syrup is optional. The last time I made this, I only had guava juice and it worked just fine. So don't stress and use what's easy for you. Nectar is thicker and sweeter, while juice is lighter, so you might want that simple syrup if it needs a little extra sweetness.

How to Make a Guava Margarita

If you're going for a salt rim, go ahead and prep the glass first. Add everything to a cocktail shaker filled with ice, then shake it until the sides frost up. Don't hold back-I count this part as my unofficial arm workout. Strain the margarita into a glass over fresh ice and garnish with a lime wedge. Then just kick back, picture some palm trees, and sip.

More Fruit Margarita Recipes

Tequila doesn't always lead to great decisions, but adding fruit? Always a good idea. Try my frozen blueberry margarita, a tart and sweet cherry limeade margarita, fruity raspberry marg, or a bold spicy mango margarita.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce triple sec
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 3 ounces guava nectar, or guava juice
  • ½ ounce simple syrup, optional
  • Garnish: lime wedge, salt

Instructions

Prep:

  • If you enjoy a salted glass, prep the rim of your glass by rubbing a lime wedge along the rim. Dip in tequila salt, and set aside.

Make the marg:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add tequila, triple sec, lime juice, simple syrup (if using), and guava nectar. Shake until the sides are fully frosted.

Serve:

  • Add fresh ice to the prepared glass and strain the margarita into it. You can also use the ice from the shaker; this is up to you.
