This passion fruit margarita recipe hits the spot! It's fruity and tropical, and it keeps you sipping happily!

Margarita With Passion Fruit Puree
From time to time, I wander the aisles at Total Wine, a large liquor store where I live, looking for new syrups and ingredients to try in my cocktails.
Once I got prickly pear syrup for margaritas, and now, I found this passion fruit puree (also available on Amazon), and I knew I needed to turn it into a tropical passion fruit margarita. If you have passion fruit, in the recipe card, I share how to make the puree you need.
Ingredients
To make this passion fruit margarita, you'll need passion fruit puree, which you can buy ready-made or make your own by blending the fruit. Then, you mix it with classic margarita ingredients, including tequila, Cointreau or triple sec, and lime juice. If you're using store-bought puree, the simple syrup isn't necessary since it's typically already sweetened.
How to Make It
Fill a shaker with ice, add all the ingredients, and shake it like you mean it. Pour it over fresh ice with a lime wedge.

Passion Fruit Margarita

Ingredients
- ¼ cup passionfruit puree*
- 1 ½ ounces tequila
- 1 ounce Cointreau or triple sec
- 1 ounce lime juice
- ½ ounce simple syrup*
Instructions
Prep:
- If using fresh passionfruit to make your puree, you'll need to blend 2-3 passionfruit in a blender. You can also add the passionfruit pulp inside the shaker jar and use a muddler to mash the pulp -this will leave the seeds in the drink, as shown in the photo.
Shake:
- Fill a shaker halfway with ice and add the passion fruit puree, tequila, triple sec or Cointreau, and lime juice inside. If using a store-bought passion fruit puree, omit the simple syrup, since it's usually already sweetened. If using fresh fruit, add it.
- Shake the cocktail vigorously until the sides are frosted, for about 30 seconds.
Serve:
- Pour the cocktail with the ice into a glass, with or without salt.
- Garnish with a lime wedge.
