Boozy Hot Chocolate
Homemade hot cocoa is one of my favorite seasonal drinks next to my Eggnog & Tequila cocktail! For holiday gatherings with friends, I like adding a little adult twist to make our happy hour even cozier. That's how I came to mix up this festive Tequila Hot Chocolate Recipe!
With its smooth and creamy flavors, it's a tasty upgrade to a winter classic and is sure to become a new holiday tradition perfect for enjoying with your loved ones!
Ingredients
This drink calls for tequila and your favorite hot chocolate. You can easily make hot chocolate with chocolate chips and milk; or use a cocoa mix. For garnish, I love adding whipped cream and cocoa powder.
How to Make Hot Chocolate with Tequila
- Make the hot chocolate by dissolving the chocolate chips in milk or using a cocoa mix.
- Fill your mugs with tequila and the hot chocolate.

Ingredients
For the hot chocolate:
- 2 cups milk, any
- ¼ cup chocolate chips, heaping
For the boozy:
- 3 ounces tequila
- Whipped cream and cocoa, for topping
Instructions
Make the hot chocolate:
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, warm up the milk. Once warm, add the chocolate chips and, using a wooden spoon or a whisk, stir gently to dissolve the chocolate into the milk.
Boozy it up:
- Measure and pour 1 ½ ounces of tequila inside each mug. Divide the hot cocoa into the mugs. The tequila and hot chocolate will mix.
- Top with whipped cream and sprinkled cocoa over the top.
Notes
- Use your favorite hot cocoa recipe. Pour 1 ½ to 2 ounces of tequila per drink, depending on how strong you'd like it to be.
- You can use a cocoa mix to make this drink, but I recommend using half water and half milk. The milk creates a thicker, creamier texture for a rich spiked hot cocoa.
