This tequila soda cocktail is effortless to make and adds the perfect amount of fizzy refreshment to your happy hour!

Tequila Soda Cocktail

My stepdad is a cocktail o'clock kind of guy and never passes up a vodka soda. Personally, I don't drink any vodka, so when you get us together, this tequila soda is my go-to drink with the other half of the club soda can!

I love it because it's a refreshing, nearly instant drink that's super simple and always hits the spot -just like a Texas Ranch Water cocktail and a Tequila Lemonade! Who says minimal ingredients don't make an epic impact? Not me!

Ingredients

While this tequila soda only has 3 simple ingredients, before you make any swaps to the recipe, here is why each ingredient is used:

  • Tequila: you'll want to use a high-quality Blanco or Silver tequila to maintain a nice and crisp sip. You can also use Reposado for this recipe, which will offer a sweetened, oakier taste.
  • Sparkling water: club soda or Topo Chico to add a nice bubbly fizz to this drink.
  • Lime wedges: add the perfect amount of flavor and make for a classic garnish.

Best Tequila to Use for a Tequila Soda

I recommend using a Silver or Blanco tequila for this recipe! These tequilas are affordable and used in most everyday tequila cocktails! Two of my go-to's are:

small bottle of Espolón Blanco
Espolón Blanco Tequila
Good and affordable, in the $25 range, this blanco tequila makes great everyday tequila-based cocktails.

Smooth and delicious, Patron Silver is always a great choice for high-quality tequila cocktails and is my personal go-to.

How to Make a Tequila Soda

I love drinks that have minimal ingredients and are quick to make! Let me show you how to make the best tequila soda with some additional tips in each to ensure the perfect sip:

  1. Make the cocktail
To a lowball glass filled with ice, pour in the tequila and give it a good stir with a cocktail spoon. Take a lime wedge and squeeze it directly into the glass for a burst of flavor and drop the wedge into the drink.
  2. Serve & Garnish
Top this drink off with your preferred choice of bubbly, and garnish with an additional lime wedge for the perfect finishing touch! Enjoy!

Garnishes

While lime wedges are traditional garnishes for a tequila soda, I like switching things up by topping this drink off with a squeeze of lemon or orange wedge for a light citrusy pop! This drink also pairs well with a salted rim for a tasty pairing with lime juice!

What to Serve with Tequila Soda

When I make this drink for my stepdad, I love pairing it with my baked tacos, these chicken fajitas, or my Mexican chicken tacos for a delicious combo that always hits the spot!
