With just three simple ingredients, you'll be sipping on this refreshing Texas Ranch Water with tequila in no time.

What is Ranch Water
Ranch Water is a tequila-based cocktail that made its mark in Texas. Made with three simple ingredients: tequila, lime, and sparkling water, it is a refreshing and easy cocktail that has become a quick fix for an epic happy hour drink.
I was out to lunch with one of my employees in Austin when "Ranch Water" caught my eye on the drinks menu. Curiosity got the best of me and I ordered one since I'm a huge fan of 2 ingredient tequila cocktails like Tequila and Coke and Tequila Lemonade.
I tried it, I liked it and asked the bartender for the ratios and how to make it. Believe me when I say that this Tequila Ranch Water recipe proves that the simplest ingredients often make a terrific and refreshing drink.
Is Tequila Ranch Water Healthy
Being low in calories and without added sugars, one can say that sipping on a tequila ranch water is a healthier cocktail option. Personally, I've become a huge fan, especially when I use lime-flavored Topo Tico.
Ingredients
While this Tequila Ranch Water has only 3 ingredients, before you make any swaps, here is why each ingredient is used:
- Tequila: use your favorite brand of Blanco or Silver.
- Lime juice: freshly squeezed is always the best!
- Sparkling water: or Topo Chico to add height to your cocktail and give it a light fizz.
- Garnishes: I like topping this drink off with a lime wedge and squeezing it into my glass for extra flavor.
The Best Tequila for Ranch Water
I recommend using a Silver or Blanco tequila for this recipe! These tequilas are affordable and used in most everyday tequila cocktails! Two of my go-to's are:

How to Make Texas Ranch Water
Grab a tall glass, and let's get mixing! Here is how to make the best Tequila Ranch Water cocktail and some additional steps in each to ensure a refreshing sip:
- Make the cocktail
To a tall glass filled with ice, add in the tequila and lime juice, making sure to leave out the sparkling water. Give the ingredients a good stir with a long spoon. - Serve & Garnish
Make this drink taller by topping off the glass with the bubbly finish. Garnish with a lime wedge or squeeze it directly into the glass for added flavor. Enjoy!

Ranch Water Pitcher
Having guests over? Measure and mix 1 ½ cups of tequila and 1 cup of lime juice (about 6-8 limes) inside a tall jar or in a pitcher and keep it in the fridge until ready to serve. Then, measure 2 ½ ounces of the tequila base and pour it over fresh ice. Top with sparkling water and garnish.
Garnishes for Ranch Water
To give this cocktail an elevated touch I like to skewer a few lime wedges through a cocktail pick, or by rimming the glass with Tajín seasoning for a hint of spice in every sip!
What to Serve with this Cocktail
Keep the festivities going by serving this drink with my quick Carne Asada Tacos, Shredded Chicken Enchilada Tacos, or, for a spicy twist, my Cajun Shrimp Tacos!
