Add a little tequila to your iced tea and get the perfect light and delicious happy hour drink!

When you're craving a sip of something refreshing and boozy, this tequila & tea is the perfect mix for the best of both worlds!

Iced Tea and Tequila

Sometimes, all you need is a little boozy "something something" without much fuss, which is why I often keep my tequila cocktails simple and light and ridiculously easy like this iced tea a tequila.

I always make a huge batch of iced tea on weekends, especially when I have family over at my house. the-it's a southern thing here in New Orleans to have it on hand at all times- and instead of grabbing a beer, I often boozy up my iced tea with a little tequila!

It's super refreshing and you get a big tall glass to sip on; making this an epic simple drink you'll make on repeat.

Ingredients

This is one of those super easy 2-ingredient tequila cocktail recipes, but before you make any swaps, see why each ingredient is needed:

  • Tequila: use your favorite brand of Blanco or Silver.
  • Iced tea: use your favorite brand, I enjoy using black tea for this recipe.
  • Simple syrup: optional for a touch of sweetness.
  • Garnishes: lime slices and a fresh sprig of mint for added flavor!

Should You Sweeten a Tea and Tequila

If you're using sweet tea, you can omit the simple syrup. For my friends who prefer plain, unsweetened tea, a little sweetener will make this cocktail delish.

How to Make a Tea & Tequila Cocktail

Get your tea brewing, and let me show you how to make the best iced tea & tequila cocktail with a few additional tips in each step to ensure the best sip:

  1. Make the cocktail
In a tall glass, combine the iced tea and tequila together. Give everything a good stir with a cocktail spoon and top the glass off with a handful of ice.
  2. Garnish & Serve
Finish your glass with a fresh sprig of mint and slices of lime for added flavor. Enjoy!

Garnishes

I enjoy sipping on this cocktail with slices of lime and mint for a pop of color and added flavor! Some other fun garnish ideas include a sugared rim for more sweetness and dehydrated orange slices for a pop of citrusy flavor!

Tea and Tequila Pitcher

Hosting guests? Turn this recipe into a pitcher and make about 8 cocktails by combining 2 cups of tequila, 8 cups of your favorite iced tea, and 1 cup of simple syrup (if unsweetened) into a pitcher. Add a handful of ice cubes, and give the mix a good stir with a long spoon. Refridgerate for one hour, and pour over ice, garnish, and you'll have an incredible pitcher of sweet tea & tequila!

What to Serve with Tea & Tequila

I enjoy serving this cocktail with my taco lettuce wraps or slow cooker chicken tacos for a nice, light bite and topping everything off with my cucumber salsa for the perfect finish!

More 2 Ingredient Tequila Cocktails

If simple happy hour cocktails like this are your jam, you'll love a tequila & Coke, a tequila & lemonade, my tequila & orange juice, and for a fizzy twist a classic tequila soda.

This was so refreshing! I used orange slices instead of lemon (cause that's what we had on hand). Thanks for sharing!
