This spicy watermelon Margarita is the only kind of heat you'll want to handle in the summer that will leave you wanting more!
This tequila cocktail is the perfect blend of sweet and spicy flavors in a unique and refreshing summertime margarita that packs a punch.

Watermelon Jalapeño Margarita
Yes, fruity drinks are always a classic summertime staple, but sometimes I want a kick of spice in my cocktail and often make a classic spicy margarita or this refreshing spicy pineapple margarita. Inspired by one of my favorite Mexican drinks, aguas frescas, I decided to blend the fiery flavors of jalapeño slices and the sweet sensations of watermelon to create this margarita.
If you want to make this margarita but have guests who aren't fans of spice, no problem! Shake up a raspberry margarita, blueberry lime margarita, raspberry peach margarita, or my coconut lime margarita!
Ingredients
While most cocktails are one serving or a pitcher, we're making a 2 person serving! Because let's be honest, who wants to go through the trouble of blending a cocktail for only one drink, might as well enjoy two of them.
The measurements for this Spicy Watermelon Margarita recipe will be in the recipe card below; but before you make substitutions, here is why each ingredient is used:
- Watermelon: cold fresh watermelon slices work best for this recipe, but if you have frozen watermelon you can use that as well.
- Cointreau or Triple sec: adds the citrus liquor element to this margarita. Learn more about the differences between cointreau and triple sec here.
- Blanco or Silver Tequila: use your favorite brand.
- Lime juice: freshly squeezed is always the best.
- Jalapeño: for garnish.
How To Make A Spicy Watermelon Margarita
The detailed steps for making this cocktail are written in detail in the recipe card; here are some additional tips in each to ensure the best drink:
- Release the spicy
In a cocktail shaker, muddle the jalapeño rounds to release its spice. You know they are muddled enough when you start to smell the spice. - Blend the watermelon
Using fresh or frozen watermelon, cut into pieces and blend until smooth. To ensure a smooth finish, pour mixture through a strainer. - Shake it up
Into the cocktail shaker with jalapeños, add in the alcohol, lime, and watermelon juice. Shake until sides are frosted. - Prep the glasses
Using sugar or salt, rim the edge of the glass with a lime wedge and fill the glasses with ice cubes. - Serve & Garnish
Pour the mixture into the prepared glass and top with jalapeño rounds or a wedge of watermelon, or both.

Garnish for the Watermelon Tequila Cocktail
Additional jalapeño rounds will add more heat and a small watermelon wedge will absorb that alcohol and be delicious. You can elevate this cocktail for a special event by skewering cubed watermelon and jalapeño rounds through a cocktail pick.
