If you love a good fruity yet tart cocktail with tequila, you'll love the simple mix of blueberries and limes in this drink! Seriously, it's like drinking summertime in a glass!

Blueberry Lime Margarita
This blueberry lime margarita is one of my favorite refreshing cocktails to make with fruit when I want something different than a Classic Margarita.
Other fruity margaritas you might enjoy include a Raspberry Peach Margarita, a Blood Orange Margarita, a Tequila Lemonade, and a Cherry Limeade Margarita.
Ingredients
You'll find the amounts to this blueberry lime margarita in the recipe card below; but before you make any swaps, check out why each ingredient is needed:
- Blueberries: fresh or frozen; whatever you have on hand will work.
- Lime Juice: freshly squeezed is always the best.
- Blanco or Silver Tequila: use your favorite brand.
- Cointreau or Triple sec: adds the citrus liquor element to this margarita. Learn more about the differences between cointreau and triple sec here.
- Simple syrup: or honey. Optional for added sweetness.
- Lime wedge: For garnish.
Best Type of Limes for Margaritas
Whenever I make margaritas, I use fresh limes. Lime juice or concentrate will change the taste of your margarita-and not for the better.
Fresh or Frozen Blueberries
It's up to you! Depending on what you have on hand, either fresh or frozen blueberries are perfect for this recipe. If you are using frozen blueberries you'll need to thaw them first! Simply run frozen blueberries under warm water so you can puree them and make the base for this blueberry lime margarita.
How to Make a Blueberry Lime Margarita
To make this margarita, you'll need to combine the blueberries and lime slices. I explain how in the steps below:
- Make the fruity base
Mash the blueberries to make the base for this drink in a muddler or blender. - Make the cocktail
Combine the blueberry base and the alcohol in a shaker and shake it vigorously to combine. - Strain
You'll want to strain and leave the blueberries behind. - Garnish
Garnish with a lime wedge.

Make it in a Pitcher
In the summer, when I have friends over, I make a pitcher that yields 6 to 8 cocktails. For this larger quantity, I make the blueberry base in the blender with 1 cup of blueberries and 1 cup of simple syrup. Then I transfer it into a pitcher and add 1 ½ cups fresh lime juice (about 12 limes), 1 ½ cups Cointreau or other triple sec, and 3 ½ cups silver tequila. Mix well and refrigerate. Pour over ice and strain as you pour if desired.
Serving this Refreshing Margarita
After you taste these delicious flavors, you'll wish this blueberry lime margarita was bottomless! One of my favorite tips for making this refreshing drink last a little longer is topping it with a few ounces of club soda, sparkling water, or limeade! With the help of some of these liquids, you can sip on your taller margarita a little longer!
