A citrusy twist on the classic, this orange tequila gimlet is made with just 3 ingredients, and is ready in no time!

When you're craving a cocktail that requires minimal ingredients and is full of flavor, this orange tequila Gimlet will be calling your name!

Tequila Gimlet with Orange Juice

When it comes to making tequila cocktails, I find that the fewer ingredients required, the better it tastes. Just like a tequila & Coke and a tequila lemonade, or my Blood Orange Cocktail, it doesn't take much to make an epic flavor impact.

This weekend, I found myself unexpectedly hosting a girlfriend's get-together. With tequila and half a jug of orange juice sitting in my fridge, I put my bartender skills to work and took a citrusy spin on a tequila Gimlet to make this ultra-refreshing orange tequila Gimlet!

What Does a Tequila Gimlet Taste Like Compared to a Margarita?

Compared to a classic Margarita, a tequila Gimlet is very similar in flavor and is equally as boozy. This recipe swaps out lime juice for orange juice to add a pop of citrus while still providing all the fresh flavors you love from the classic with the peppery flavor of tequila and sweetened to perfection with simple syrup.

Ingredients

Although this orange tequila Gimlet requires only 3 simple ingredients before you make any swaps, here is why each ingredient is used:

  • Tequila: use your favorite brand of Blanco or Silver. If you don't have a favorite, I have some great recommendations below.
  • Orange juice: freshly squeezed is worth it for this recipe, but store-bought also works just as well.
  • Simple syrup: to add a bit of sweetness to this drink, you can also use two Stevia packets in place of the syrup for a lower-calorie swap.
  • Garnish: apple slices are the perfect finishing touch to this cocktail!

How to Make an Orange Tequila Gimlet

Grab your shaker, and let's get this happy hour started. Here is how to make this refreshing cocktail, with some additional tips in each step to ensure the best sip:

  1. Make the cocktail
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine all required ingredients. You'll want to give everything a good shake until the sides of the glass are nice and frosted.
  2. Serve & Garnish
You'll want to give your shaken mixture a good strain before pouring it into your glass over fresh ice. Garnish with an apple slice for added flavor. Enjoy!

How to Serve an Orange Tequila Gimlet

This orange tequila Gimlet is best enjoyed served in a coupe glass over ice and garnished with an apple slice. For a fun twist, serve this cocktail with a sugared rim and dried orange slices for a touch of sweetness and added citrus flavor!

This drink also pairs well with my Orange-Ginger Glazed Portobello Mushroom Tacos. Yum!
