This Cherry Limeade Margarita recipe is the ultimate refreshing cocktail that tastes like summer!

You are one shake away from your newest happy hour obsession with this Cherry Limeade Margarita!

Cherry Limeade and Tequila

I like to do a summer kick-off party the first weekend of June, and this year, my friend Jane brought this Cherry Limeade Tequila recipe for me to shake up. It has everything you love from a good Classic Margarita with the sweetness and tart of cherries.

It was an instant hit with all of us poolside. In previous years, I've made Raspberry Margaritas and my Blueberry Lime Margarita recipes for this annual party.

Ingredients

The ingredients for this cherry limeade margarita are easy to find. I usually purchase the limeade to keep it simple, but as far as the cherry part, you have a few options:

  • Silver or Blanco Tequila: use your favorite brand or one of the ones below.
  • Cointreau or Triple Sec: these orange liquors sweeten the drink and are essential for a well-mixed margarita. Use your favorite one.
  • Limeade: make your own at home or purchase it at the grocery store.
  • Cherry juice or cherry syrup: cherry juice is not to be as sweet as cherry syrup. In a pinch, you can use grenadine.
  • Garnishes: fresh or Maraschino cherries, lime wedges.

How to Make a Cherry Limeade Margarita

This cherry limeade margarita is a no-fuss kind of cocktail that can't get any easier to make. Let me show you all my tips to ensure a perfect pour every time:

  1. Shake it up
You'll want to combine all the ingredients together and give this drink a vigorous shake until the sides are nice and frosted.
  2. Pour & Garnish
To ensure an even pour, add fresh ice to the glass. Top with fresh fruit to enhance the drink's sweet flavors and sip your way to bliss!

Cherry Juice or Cherry Cocktail Syrup

You'll find cherry juice at some stores, with the other shelf-stable juices. Once opened, you'll need to refrigerate it and consume it within 7 days. However, the cherry syrup is shelf stable and sweeter, which will last months after opening.

Alternatively, you can use grenadine syrup for color, although it will lack the tart flavor that cherries add to this cocktail.

How to Serve a Cherry Limeade Margarita

Top your Cherry Limeade Margarita with Maraschino cherries, lime wedges, fresh cherries, and dried orange slices; for a sweet finishing touch, add some sugar (instead of salted) around the rim! Need another drink to round out a party? Try this Dirty Shirley recipe or my frozen lime margarita.
