It doesn't get any easier or more delicious than this refreshing, low-calorie Skinny Tequila Sunrise!

Skinny Tequila Sunrise cocktail

Low Calorie Tequila Sunrise

One of my favorite drinks to enjoy during weekend brunches is the classic Tequila Sunrise or this Tequila Champagne cocktail. This weekend, while out with my girlfriends, I decided to try the restaurant's drink special, a Skinny Tequila Sunrise. After two rounds, I knew I had to recreate the recipe here.

This cocktail has 168 calories, which is 82 less than a regular tequila sunrise, which has 250 calories, making for a guilt-free delicious cocktail.

Ingredients

To make this cocktail, you'll need tequila, freshly squeezed or store-bought orange juice (to reduce sugar and calories even more, you can use light orange juice), grenadine for the layered sunrise look, and water to help make this a longer drink.

How to Make a Skinny Tequila Sunrise

  1. Pour tequila and orange juice into a glass with ice and stir. You can also add water now to make the drink taller.
  2. Add the grenadine slowly so it sinks to the bottom, creating a color gradient.
  3. Garnish with fresh orange slices to elevate the bright, refreshing orange flavors. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ ounces tequila
  • 4 ounces orange juice
  • ¼ ounce grenadine
  • 2 ounces water, optional
  • Orange slices, for garnish

Instructions

Make the cocktail:

  • Fill a large glass with ice. Add tequila and orange juice, and give it a stir. If you'll use water to make this drink taller, add it now, too.
  • Slowly pour in grenadine, which will sink to the bottom, creating a layered effect.
  • To make this cocktail longer, top off the drink with sparkling water.

Garnish:

  • Garnish with orange slices for a refreshing finishing touch. Enjoy!

Notes

Make this cocktail longer: To make this cocktail last longer, mix the tequila and orange juice with water. However, avoid adding water after pouring in the grenadine, as it will ruin the sunrise layers in this cocktail.
