And while I usually serve my classic Christmas Margarita during holiday gatherings, this year, I'm keeping it light so everyone can enjoy a boozy treat. This skinny pomegranate Margarita is the perfect way to savor the season without the holiday sugar rush and will leave everyone coming back for refills!

This skinny pomegranate Margarita has just 139 calories, which is 99 calories less than a Classic Margarita, which contains 238 calories, making this a festive low-calorie sip!

Ingredients

With just a few staple ingredients, you'll be enjoying this skinny pomegranate Margarita in no time. Here is everything you'll need to make this recipe:

  • Pomegranate juice: use any brand, be sure to use true juice and not bottled concentrate.
  • Tequila: use your favorite brand of Blanco or Silver.
  • Cointreau or Triple Sec: these orange-flavored liquors will sweeten and balance out this cocktail from the tartness of the pomegranate juice.
  • Lime juice: freshly squeezed is the best.
  • Sparkling water: or Topo Chico, this will add height to this cocktail and a nice bubbly fizz.
  • Garnishes: cinnamon sugar (optional) for rimming, cinnamon sticks, cranberries, and rosemary sprigs.

How to Make a Skinny Pomegranate Marg

Grab your shaker because we're about to get shakin'! Here is how to make a low-calorie pomegranate Margarita with a few additional tips to ensure the best sip:

  1. Prep the glass
    If you enjoy a sugared rim, you'll want to prep the glass first to enjoy your Margarita right after making it.
  2. Make the cocktail
    Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker, being sure to leave out the sparkling water until the end. Give everything a good shake; you'll know it's time to serve when the sides of the glass are nice and frosted.
  3. Serve & Garnish
    Give your shaken mixture a good strain before pouring it into your prepared glass with fresh ice. Top off with your bubbly finish and garnish with cranberries, cinnamon sticks, and rosemary sprigs. Enjoy!

Make a Pitcher

Keep the drinks coming by turning this skinny Margarita into a pitcher that serves 8 by mixing 1 ½ cups of pomegranate juice, 1 cup of tequila, ½ cup of Cointreau or Triple Sec, and ¼ of lime juice in a pitcher. Add a handful of ice to the pitcher and refrigerate for one hour. When it's time to serve, pour ⅓ cup of the cocktail mix into a prepared glass filled with fresh ice and top it off with sparkling water.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ ounces pomegranate juice
  • 1 ounce tequila
  • ½ ounce triple sec or Cointreau
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • Sparkling water, to top off
  • Cinnamon sugar, for rimming
  • Cinnamon sticks, cranberries, rosemary, for garnish

Instructions

Prep:

  • If you enjoy a sugared glass, prep the rim of your glass by rubbing a lime wedge along the rim. Dip in cinnamon sugar, and set aside.

Make the marg:

  • Add the pomegranate juice, triple sec or Cointreau, lime juice, and a handful of ice to a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously until the sides are fully frosted.

Serve:

  • Fill your prepared glass with ice. Strain the shaken mixture directly into the glass. Top off with sparkling water to the rim.
  • Garish with rosemary sprigs and cranberries. Enjoy!

Notes

Make it a pitcher, yielding 8 servings, by adding 1 ½ cups of pomegranate juice, 1 cup of tequila, ½ cup Cointreau or triple sec, and ¼ cup lime juice into a pitcher. Add a handful of ice and refrigerate for 1 hour. Pour about ⅓ cup of the pre-mixed cocktail over ice and top with sparkling water or Topo Chico.
