Tequila Iced Coffee
When it comes to coffee, it's a necessity in order to function for the day ahead of me. And when it comes to Tequila, it's what makes or breaks my favorite Margarita and cocktail recipes. So, what would happen if I combined two of my favorites into one?
Yesterday evening, when I spotted leftover iced coffee sitting next to my trusty friend tequila in the fridge, I knew I had to experience these delicious flavors together. This iced coffee & tequila cocktail combines a burst of energy and a boozy kick for the ultimate two-in-one happy hour special that is sure to leave you craving more!
Can You Mix Coffee with Tequila?
Absolutely! The slight sweetness from the agave in the tequila pairs amazingly well with the rich flavor of strong coffee, and with a touch of milk, it makes for a creamy, boozy treat!
What You Need
Coffee and tequila are almost everything you need to give yourself a delicious energy boost. Here is everything you need to make this boozy treat:
- Tequila: use your favorite brand of Blanco or Silver. If you don't have a favorite, see my recommendations down below.

- Coffee: tequila's new best friend! I'll share with you how to make this with instant coffee powder for a whipped, luxurious feel or strongly brewed espresso coffee.
- Ice: essential for keeping everything nice and chilled!
How to Make a Tequila Coffee Cocktail
This tequila iced coffee cocktail is one of the easiest drinks to make when you need something cooling and delicious! Here is how to make this epic drink, with some additional tips in each step to ensure the best sip:
- Get the coffee ready
You'll need about a shot of strong espresso coffee, or mix instant coffee powder with granulated sugar and water and whip it until it's nice and frothy. - Make the cocktail
In a glass filled with ice, combine preferred milk and tequila. You'll want to slowly pour a (cooled) shot of espresso or spoon your whipped coffee into the glass. Stir to mix everything together, and pair with a festive straw. Enjoy!
Ultra Chilled Preparation
Want to enjoy this cocktail ultra chilled? Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, and vigorously shake the coffee and tequila until the sides are frosted. Then, slowly pour the mixture into an ice-prepared glass with your favorite milk and enjoy!
Spiked Dalgonia Coffee
The classic Dalgonia coffee is achieved by whipping equal amounts of instant coffee, granulated sugar, and water. Once it achieves that epic whipped texture, you pour it over your milk and ice. In this case, we do that and add tequila for the ultra-boozy treat!

Best Tequila to Use in Coffee Drinks
Since you're not sipping it alone, there is no need to pull out the reposado tequila for this drink. Of all the types of tequila out there, Blanco or Silver tequila is the one to use in cocktails and in this coffee-inspired drink.
