Discover how to mix up this simple and unexpectedly refreshing blueberry tequila cocktail!

Blueberry Tequila Cocktail
Last weekend, I was at a backyard hangout and someone brought a big pitcher of blueberry limeade. It was fine, but I couldn't stop thinking: this would be so much better as a tequila cocktail. So naturally, I came home and made it happen!
Like my classic paloma cocktail, this blueberry tequila cocktail is bright, fizzy, and just sweet enough to keep you coming back for another sip. It's the kind of drink that shows up for brunch, hangs by the pool, and keeps the vibes going long after sunset.
Ingredients
No fake flavors here-just muddled blueberries, fresh lime juice, and a hit of sparkle from Topo Chico. You can find exact amounts in the recipe card below:
- Tequila: use your favorite brand of Blanco or Silver
- Lime juice: freshly squeezed is always the best, but store-bought will work just as well.
- Blueberries: If you don't have fresh blueberries, you can use ½ ounce of blueberry syrup or blueberry simple syrup instead and just add it to the shaker. It still gives you that juicy berry flavor with zero muddling required.
- Topo Chico (or sparkling water): adds that ahhh factor and keeps every sip light and refreshing.
Blueberry Syrup vs. Fresh
Fresh blueberries will not be as potent as using blueberry syrup, but both will work to make this cocktail recipe.
How to Make a Blueberry Cocktail
This cocktail is easy to make, but here are some tips that will ensure the best drink:
- Muddle your berries
Add tequila, lime juice, and blueberries to the bottom of a shaker. Muddle the berries like you mean it. You want to get as much juice as possible. - Shake it up
Toss in a handful of ice (hold the Topo Chico for now-trust me), seal the cocktail shaker, and give it a vigorous shake for 20 to 30 seconds. - Serve & Garnish
Add a few whole blueberries to your glass and fill it up with ice. Strain the mixture into the glass and take a second to admire that color. Top it with Topo Chico for sparkle, a fun garnish and sip away!

Garnishes for this Cocktail
I used some rosemary and a few floating blueberries in the photo-simple, clean, and pretty enough for Instagram. But you can dress this up SO many ways: Add a sprig of mint for freshness, a dehydrated lime slice, an edible flower, or go full cocktail bar with a sugar rim.
What to Serve with a Blueberry Cocktail
This drink is citrusy and sweet, so smoky, spicy, or savory flavors give a nice contrast. Tacos like Jamaican jerk chicken tacos and blackened zucchini tacos were basically made for this moment! Or keep the theme going with tequila lime pork tacos.
