All the strawberry marg flavor, none of the fuss. Just shake it up with tequila, pour it over ice, and sip like you didn't just use a store-bought mix -I won't tell.

Mix-Made Strawberry Margarita
A couple of summers ago, I was hosting friends for taco night and realized-too late-that I forgot to grab fresh strawberries to make a strawberry margarita on the rocks.
I did have a bottle of strawberry margarita mix and a strong desire to be the fun friend with good drinks -because from time to time, we all need variety from regular Margaritas with a Mix, right?
So I took the low-effort, high-reward option. For the first round, we made this recipe; for the second round, we made frozen margaritas with a mix.
Ingredients
You'll find the amounts for this Strawberry Margarita Recipe with Mix in the recipe card below, but before you make any swaps, check out why each ingredient is needed:
- Strawberry Margarita Mix: I recommend some of my favorite mixes below, but any mix will work just fine.
- Tequila: use your favorite brand of Blanco or Silver.
- Cointreau: or triple sec, adds the citrus liquor element to this margarita.
- Garnishes: salt (optional) for rimming, lime wedges and strawberries.
Best Strawberry Margarita Mixes
Depending on the strawberry margarita mix you purchase, your marg can taste cheap or like you picked the berries yourself. Plot twist: you did not.
- Jose Cuervo Mix: if you're looking for a non-expensive and easy-to-find in-store strawberry mix, this is the one! It checks all the boxes.
- Tres Agaves Organic Mix: made with just 5 simple ingredients, this mix packs a delicious punch without any fake syrups.
- Lava Strawberry Mix: this mix is made with real fruity flavor and delivers premium, higher-quality ingredients for a luxury sipping experience.
How to Make a Strawberry Margarita with Mix
Skip making it from scratch, pick a good mix, and doctor it up to make a killer cocktail. Here's how to make it:
- Prep the glass
If you enjoy a salted rim, you'll want to start by rimming your glass first so you can enjoy your margarita right after shaking it up. - Make the cocktail
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine all the required ingredients. Give everything a good shake until the sides of the glass are fully frosted. - Serve & Garnish
Add fresh ice to the prepared glass, strain your shaken mixture, and garnish with a lime wedge and strawberry for the perfect finishing touch. Enjoy!

What to Serve with Strawberry Margaritas
This Strawberry Margarita with Mix pairs perfectly with my classic street tacos or these salsa verde chicken tacos topped with my flavorful avocado salsa for the perfect bite!
Bartender's Note
Some mixes include tequila; others don't. This recipe uses a non-alcoholic mix, so all you have to do is add tequila and shake, and your cocktail is ready to enjoy!
