One sip of this Lavender Margarita and you'll be instantly refreshed. Its floral hints are subtle, making it ultra delicious.

Purple Lavender Margarita
During a recent trip to NYC, I stopped at a local coffee shop where the drink of the day was a lavender latte. I was shocked to find out that it's one of their most popular drinks and that the secret was in the subtle lavender flavor of their homemade simple syrup.
It was so good, I asked how it was made and then I used it to transform my best Margarita recipe into this lavender Margarita. Is it purple? Yes, the lavender will give the syrup a light purple hue.
Other fun drinks that are a twist on the classics include my Elderflower Margarita, Mezcal Paloma, and Spicy Watermelon Margarita.
Ingredients
You'll find the amounts to this lavender margarita in the recipe card below; but before you make any swaps, check out why each ingredient is needed:
- Lavender Simple Syrup: a mixture of sugar and water infused with lavender sprigs, this will give the cocktail its authentic taste -you can make it with the recipe below or buy it.
- Tequila: use your favorite brand of blanco or silver.
- Sparkling water: or Topo Tico to add height to your cocktail and give it a light fizz.
- Cointreau or Triple sec: adds the citrus liquor element to this margarita. Learn more about the differences between cointreau and triple sec here.
- Lime juice: freshly squeezed is always the best.
- Lime wedge: for garnish, optional.
- Lavender sprig: additional garnish, optional.
Best Tequila for this Margarita
This Lavender Margarita recipe works best with Silver or Blanco tequila, both of which are affordable and easy to find wherever liquor is sold. Some of my favorite tequilas for this type of cocktail and margaritas are Patrón Silver, Casamigos Blanco, and Espolón Blanco.
How to Make a Lavender Margarita
The detailed steps for making this cocktail are written in detail in the recipe card; here are some additional tips in each to ensure the best drink:
- Prep the Glass
Rub a lime wedge along the rim of the glass ensuring all sides are coated. Dip the rim into sugar, set aside until ready to pour. - Make the Simple Syrup
First, make a classic simple syrup for cocktails. Wait until the sugar is dissolved to add the lavender sprigs and infuse it by simmering them for 2 minutes. Strain it and then let it cool down fully before using it. - Shake it Up
Pour the required ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Give the mixture a vigorous shake. You know it is shaken enough when the sides are nice and frosted. - Pour
Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass while leaving some room at the top for the Topo Tico or sparkling water. - Top & Garnish
Top it off and then garnish it before sipping.

Garnishes
Whether you're hosting an event or just want to bring more life to this cocktail, garnishing with the elements of the Lavender Margarita, like lime wedges and fresh lavender sprigs is always a great idea.
What to Serve with a Lavender Margarita

When I make this cocktail at home with friends I enjoy serving my Corn and Black Bean Salsa with my favorite salty chips to get the night started.
