Spicy Frozen Margarita
If you know me, then you know that margaritas are at the top of my cocktail hour favorites. But when the classics get to be a bit boring, I reach for the spice!
This weekend, my girlfriends stopped by my house for a much-needed catch-up, and while my classic margaritas are always a crowd-pleasing hit, I wanted to swap things up. I added a spicy twist to the recipe, creating the perfect balance of heat and chill for one epic spicy frozen margarita!
Ingredients
Everything you need to make this spicy frozen margarita will be listed below, but before you make any swaps, see why each ingredient is needed:
- Jalapeño rounds: these will add the perfect amount of heat to this recipe!
- Simple syrup: for a touch of added sweetness.
- Tequila: use your favorite brand of Blanco or Silver.
- Cointreau: or triple sec to balance out the heat in this drink.
- Lime juice: freshly squeezed is the best.
- Ice: for that delicious slush-like texture.
- Garnishes: salt (optional) for rimming, jalapeño rounds, and lime wedges.
How to Make Spicy Jalapeño Margaritas
Grab your blender, and let's get mixing! Here is how to make the best spicy frozen margaritas, with a few additional tips in each step to ensure the perfect sip:
- Prep the glasses
If your guests enjoy a salted rim, start by preparing your glasses first so your guests can enjoy a sip right after mixing everything up. - Blend it Up
You'll want to blend the jalalpeño slices, simple syrup, and half of the lime juice on high until fully combined. Strain the mixture for a smoother sip. Return the mixture to the blender, add the remaining ingredients, and mix on high until it reaches a slushy consistency. - Serve & Garnish
Pour your blended mixture into your prepared glasses and top with additional jalapeño slices for added spice and a lime wedge. Enjoy!

Make it Spicer
Want to amp up the heat in this frozen spicy margarita? Blend the jalapeño slices with the seeds for extra spice, and don't hesitate to add more than the recipe suggests. Note: A little goes a long way. And garnish with extra for the ultimate finishing touch!

Frozen Spicy Margarita

Ingredients
- 4-6 jalapeño rounds, with or without seeds
- 2 ounces simple syrup
- 1 cup tequila, 8 ounces
- ¾ cup Cointreau or triple sec, 6 ounces
- 1 cup lime juice, 8 ounces
- 6 cups ice
- Garnish: jalapeño rounds and lime wedges
Instructions
Prep:
- Place the jalapeño slices, simple syrup, and half of the lime juice in the blender. Blend until the jalapeño has dissolved into the liquid. Pour this through a strainer to hold back any jalapeño tidbits. If you don't mind them, then you can skip this step and blend everything at the same time.
- If you enjoy a salted glass, prep the rim of your glass by rubbing a lime wedge along the rim. Dip in tequila salt, and set aside.
Blend:
- Add the spicy jalapeño simple syrup, the tequila, Cointreau or triple sec, the rest of the lime juice, and the ice to your blender jar. Blend until you have a slushy consistency. This is a great time to adjust the sweetness (add more) or spice level.
Serve:
- Pour the spicy frozen margarita into the prepared glasses.
- Garnish with a few jalapeño slices and lime wedges.
