Deliciously sweet and refreshing, this Champagne Margarita recipe brings the perfect amount of fizz to any occasion.

Sparkling Champagne Margarita
Every celebratory event calls for a cheerful, bubbly drink to liven up the party. And if you're like me and would rather celebrate with a good classic margarita instead of a flute of champagne, this sparkling Champagne Margarita is exactly what you've been searching for.
This cocktail is the best of both worlds. It's refreshing and it goes down easy. Plus, it's an upgraded drink to the simple Tequila Champagne cocktail, which is also fizzy, lightly sweetened, and is also a party favorite.
What You Need
You'll find the amounts to this Champagne Margarita in the recipe card below; but before you make any swaps and alter the cocktail, check out why each ingredient is needed:
- Tequila: use your favorite brand of Blanco or Silver.
- Cointreau or Triple sec: adds the citrus liquor element to this margarita. Learn more about the differences between cointreau and triple sec here.
- Lime juice: freshly squeezed is always the best! You will need about 1 lime.
- Simple syrup: or honey. Optional for added sweetness.
- Champagne: use your favorite brand.
- Lime wedges: for garnish.
- Salt: or sugar. Optional for coating the rim.
What Champagne is Best for Margaritas
Use your favorite (and affordable) champagne for this Margarita, although Prosecco or Cava work here too! They are all very similar, with the main differences being their origin and how fruity or dry they are.
Can I Use Sparkling Wine?
Sparkling wine is not the same as champagne, but if you're in a pinch and need an alcoholic bubbly, by all means, use it.
How to Make a Champagne Margarita
The detailed steps for making this cocktail are written in detail in the recipe card; here are some additional tips in each to ensure the best drink:
- Prep the glass
Using sugar or salt, rim the edge of the glass with a lime wedge and rub it on salt or sugar-a favorite of champagne lovers. - Make the cocktail
Add the margarita ingredients to the shaker but not the champagne-you definitely don't want to shake that up! - Pour
Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice, straining the mixture out of the shaker over the ice. Top it off with about 2 ounces of champagne to the rim for a bubbly finish. - Top & Garnish
Lime twist or lemon twist and fresh flowers will take this cocktail to the next level.

Garnishes
Other than the basic salt or sugar rimming and a citrus wedge, you can elevate this celebratory champagne margarita with edible flowers, fresh herbs or twisted lemon or lime rinds, or even rock candy! The possibilities are endless.
How to Serve a Champagne Margarita
This champagne margarita deserves to be the star of the show by serving it in a simple low ball glass or a champagne flute.
One drink in and you'll need snacks that pair well with this cocktail like fresh berries dipped in a PB & Chocolate dip, or some fudgy brownies. Obviously, you can always bring out the chips and salsa or my easy guacamole... but sweet treats always go great with this cocktail.
