Have a bunch of fresh rosemary in the fridge or in your garden? Grab a sprig and make a delicious rosemary Margarita!

Classic Margarita with Rosemary
Back when I was living my single life, and I'd cook a lot of baked chicken to have food on hand, by day 3, I'd be less than thrilled to see the same thing on the menu, so this rosemary Margarita would hype up that meal.
I'd grab some rosemary from the plant on my porch, muddle a few sprigs with my go-to classic Margarita ingredients, and the result would be a stellar cocktail I continue to enjoy today!
Ingredients
Everything you need to make this vibrant rosemary Margarita can be found in the recipe card below, but before you make any swaps, here is why each ingredient is used:
- Tequila: use your favorite brand of Blanco or Silver.
- Lime juice: freshly squeezed is always the best!
- Cointreau: or triple sec, adds a citrusy flavor to the mix. An essential ingredient in all great Margarita recipes!
- Simple syrup: for an added touch of sweetness.
- Garnishes: salt (optional) for rimming, rosemary sprigs, and lime wedges.
How to Make a Rosemary Margarita
Clip some fresh rosemary and grab your shaker! Here is how to make this epic rosemary Margarita, with some additional tips in each to ensure the best sip:
- Prep the glass
If salted rims are your happy hour jam, you'll want to start by prepping your glass first, so you can enjoy your drink right after shaking it up. - Make the cocktail
Muddle the chopped rosemary in the cocktail shaker. Note: a little goes a long way! You know it's time to add the rest of the ingredients when you can smell the fragrant aroma. Shake, shake, shake until the sides of the glass are frosted. - Pour & Garnish
You'll want to strain your shaken mixture and pour it into a prepared glass with fresh ice. Garnish with a rosemary sprig and lime wedge for added flavor. Enjoy!

How to Garnish this Cocktail
This rosemary Margarita is best enjoyed when topped with a fresh rosemary sprig and a lime wedge for a bright, citrusy touch. For a fun twist, swap in other citrus fruits like lemon, orange, and tangerine to add a burst of flavor to every sip!
What to Serve with a Rosemary Margarita
A cocktail this vibrant, needs something equally as delicious to enjoy it with. Try serving this Margarita with rotisserie chicken tacos, chicken fajita tacos, or my juicy pan-seared chicken breasts for the ultimate happy hour!
Rosemary Margarita

Ingredients
- 1 Rosemary sprig, for the drink and garnish
- 1 ½ ounces tequila
- 1 ¼ ounces lime juice, about 1 lime
- 1 ½ ounces Cointreau or triple sec
- ½ ounce simple syrup
- Salt for the rim, optional
- Lime wedge, for garnish
Instructions
Prep:
- If you enjoy a salted glass, prep the rim of your glass by rubbing a lime wedge along the rim. Dip in tequila salt, and set aside.
- On a cutting board, roughly chop 4 fresh rosemary leaves. Chopping them will open up the leaf and let the herb release the aroma -a little goes a long way!
Make the cocktail:
- Place the chopped rosemary in the bottom of the cocktail shaker and muddle them until you begin to smell the herb aroma. You simply want to press them to squeeze their natural oils.
- Add the tequila, Cointreau or triple sec, lime juice, and simple syrup to the cocktail shaker. Add a handful of ice and shake until the sides are frosted.
Serve:
- Fill the prepared glass with ice. Strain the margarita into the glass, holding back the rosemary
- Garnish with a lime wedge and a rosemary sprig.
