If you enjoy a salted drink, prep the rim of your glass by rubbing a lime wedge or the sliced blood orange along the rim. Dip in tequila salt, fill the glass with ice, and set aside.
Make the marg:
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Squeeze the blood orange and pour the juice into the shaker. Store-bought blood orange juice works too. Add tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice. Shake until the sides are fully frosted.
Serve:
Pour the shaken mixture into the prepared glass and garnish with a blood orange wedge. Enjoy!
Notes
Make a pitcher of this blood orange margarita with 4 cups of blood orange juice (about 12 blood oranges), 1 ½ cups fresh lime juice (about 12 limes), 1 ½ cups Cointreau or other triple sec, 3 ½ cups silver tequila. Mix well and refrigerate. Pour over ice.
