If you enjoy a salted glass, prep the rim of your glass by rubbing a lime wedge along the rim. Dip in tequila salt, and set aside.
Make the marg:
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add tequila, lime juice, simple syrup (if using) and Cointreau. Shake until the sides are fully frosted.
Serve:
Add fresh ice into the prepared glass and strain the margarita into the glass. You can also use the ice from the shaker, this is up to you.
Garnish with a wedge of lime.
Notes
I follow the 1:1 triple sec to tequila ratio, mostly because I only use Cointreau. If you're using triple sec, which is less expensive, I recommend increasing the amount of simple syrup to 1 ounce to balance out this drink.
